About

My name is Luke, I'm married and in my late 30's. I have a BA (Hons) in Biblical Studies and Theology and am currently discerning a vocation in the Anglican (Church of England) church. I love to discuss and think about the Christian faith and all the implications of following Jesus—not only in my personal life but also in how that should look in the world, and the Church, at large.

I believe bad theology can be like a cancer in the Church, leading individuals and groups of people down the wrong path. It may only start small, but if certain beliefs aren't corrected or are left to develop without any proper teaching or study, it can become something disastrous - often shipwrecking people's faith.

Now I'm not saying I have all the right answers or have got my theology all perfect and neat – I am ever learning and studying the Scriptures too!

I just hope that the topics and areas of theology, history and faith that I've taken the time to study in depth will be of some help and use to others who may not have the time or opportunity to do the same for themselves.

My wife and I
This is me (and my wife).

My aim is to enable people to think (or even, rethink) about what they believe; to question long-held doctrines they've been taught, and see what rings true and valid by the Scriptures. The truth will always be vindicated and will hold up under scrutiny, while the rest will be stripped away.

So I invite you to explore the Scriptures with me, take a journey through theological depths, and see where you come out - but above all, to make sure that the way you were taught to follow Jesus, is ultimately the way that Scripture teaches.

And for those interested, I adhere to the Nicene Creed, as that sums up my beliefs pretty neatly. Anything else you can probably glean by reading my blog posts.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father [and the Son]; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And I believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
