the Coming of Jesus: the Olivet Discourse – Part 1

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 19th October 2014 in Second Coming Series | Second Coming,Return of Christ,Return of Jesus,Preterism,Prophecy,Last Days,Left Behind,Eschatology,Matthew 24,Olivet Discourse,birth pangs,Josephus,history
...lated as "end of the world" in the KJV, whereas all other Bibles you read will (hopefully) say "end of the age". the Greek word translated "world" in the KJV is actually the word aion, meaning "age" or "eon", which has completely different connotations than the destruction of the physical universe. So the disciples have just been told that the temple will be destroyed, so their obvious question is when and how will be know it's about to happen?  Jesus answers them plainly by laying out everything that will happen in the run up to this massive event, and as we'll see, all these signs did happen as foretold and are document in the historical record. Mark...

Is it the end of the world as we know it?

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 27th September 2015 in Eschatology | blood moon,last days,end of the world,second coming,apocalypse,prophecy,false prophets,predictions
...September 28th 2015 will be a supermoon and a red moon at that. I last wrote about these four "blood moons" way back in April last year when certain self-styled prophets John Hagee and Mark Blitz's "end Times" teaching gained some popularity (and subsequent book promotions). One thing that I predicted in my previous article was that if nothing else comes from all of this "end is nigh" nonsense, is that these "prophets" would indeed profit from their books – as has been shown to be true in which the "Four Blood Moons" book has been in the top 20 on the New York Times Best-seller List, and has also recently been turned into a docu-drama! Other than th...

the Coming of Jesus: Our Future Hope - What Now?

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 22nd January 2016 in Second Coming Series | second coming,70 weeks,70ad,what now?,what next,preterism,fulfilled prophecy,eighth day
...So here we are at the final part of this Coming of Jesus series. If you’re new here, you can start from the beginning by clicking here, or carry on reading as I will give a brief overview of what’s been covered so far.   This series has covered many topics and themes of eschatology, starting with Daniel’s prophecy of the Messiah’s first coming to this world, all the way through to the prophecies of another coming. It’s been a very interesting and eye-opening journey of discovery, at least for myself, if no one else. I didn’t start this study with a particular doctrine or conclusion in mind, but rather went in with the minds...

Has Brexit just spoiled “end Times” prophecy?

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 25th June 2016 in Eschatology | end times,Brexit,EU referendum,european union,antichrist,NWO,second coming
...Has "Brexit" just spoiled “end Times” prophecy?   In a word, no.   Unless of course you are of a Dispensationalist view, then this sudden exit from the European Union by Britain will have caused you some theological holes you may feel the need to patch up. there’s already been some satire articles posted in light of this, highlighting the errors of Dispensationalism and its main adherents tendency to interpret Biblical prophecy by the current news headlines. One such article, by the Babylon Bee, poked fun at the current events by writing that “premillenial dispensationalists around the world held emergency meetings Friday morning, frantically adj...

the Coming of Jesus: Revelation Fulfilled?

...de to the end of the world matched against various news headlines and current events (all of which have undoubtedly failed).   Or to put it more bluntly, in the words of Augustine, who began to view eschatological things as referring to the struggle between good and evil in people: "Obviously, then it is a waste of effort for us to attempt counting the precise number of years which this world has yet to go, since we know from the mouth of Truth that it is none of our business." — Augustine of Hippo, City of God, 18:53   Trust God, abide in his love and know that ultimately, He is in control.   Further Reading: Reclaiming the Book of R...

the Temptations of Jesus: Worship and Glory

Posted by Luke J. Wilson on 25th February 2018 in Lent | temptation,wilderness,desert,worship,glory,devil,satan,forty days,lent
...Here we are on the second Sunday of Lent, and this week I am looking at the next temptation Jesus faced in the desert against the devil, the one of worship and glory. Let's take a look at the text: Luke 4:5-8 then the devil led him up and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And the devil said to him, “To you I will give their glory and all this authority; for it has been given over to me, and I give it to anyone I please. If you, then, will worship me, it will all be yours.”  Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Worship the Lord your God,    and serve only him.’” (cf. Matthew 4:8-10) Last week we saw how Satan temp...
